Archives

The Warden and Freemen of Malmesbury hold an extensive archive collection which dates back to the 1600s.

It includes minute books, the hundreds books, many maps including the 1648 Bird’s Eye View Map, 1842 Map of Malmesbury, the 280 plots of Kings Heath around 1829, photographs, house deeds, leases and a list of members back as far as 1600.

Around twice a year we open our archives and have a display in the Meeting room at the rear of 1 Market Lane. We sometimes work with other organisations to promote our open days. Recently this has involved working with Malmesbury Carnival and Wessex Week. These events are advertised separately when the dates are set.
